Contractors work to tear down Windward Islands Bank’s head office in Philipsburg. The 27 year old building will be replaced by a new two storey structure.

St. Maarten– The old building which has served as the Windward Islands Bank’s (Wib) head office past 27 years is being torn down and renovated to make the bank’s main branch more user friendly. A two story structure that will have state of the art equipment will replace the torn down structure.

“What you see here in this branch is only temporary, because we had to move everybody into this building. But once that is finished, the two buildings will be fused,” the bank’s Managing Director Jan Beaujon said.

The expansion, which will take one year, will also facilitate the return of the Bank Card Services. That department is currently accommodated in one of the upper flats at the U.T.S building.

“What we will definitely have available is new services that will enable more efficiency because we will have more space,” Deputy Managing Director Kelvin L. Bloyden added.
