St. Maarten – Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams has been elected as one of the Top-100 most influential and powerful women by the Dutch women’s magazine Opzij.

In a communication from the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Margriet van der Linden, the prime minister was informed that, through her contribution in the field of politics in the Dutch Kingdom, she has made it on the list of the most influential women. The magazine will organize an award winning ceremony at the City Hall in Amsterdam mid-October to honor some of the most influential women in the ten different fields.

Opzij is a mainstream Dutch feminist monthly magazine. It was founded as a radical feminist magazine in November 1972 by Wim Hora Adema and Hedy d’Ancona. The magazine calls itself the “only opinion magazine for women,” and considers itself a part of the women’s movement.

The magazine currently contains articles about women and women’s issues, as well as “lifestyle” sections.

Prime Minister Wescot-Williams commented that she was honored to be a part of the list and felt proud to have been chosen through her dedication and commitment in her function as prime minister.
