Website St. Maarten parliament out of date

St. Maarten – The website of the Parliament of St. Maarten contains outdated information and does not provide current information about central committee and parliament meetings.

Yesterday the website’s home page featured a truckload of stories that go back to the beginning of August. The site also seems to be an instrument to promote the president of parliament rather than a source of public information.

Of the eight stories the site displays in a slide show on its home page, six involve activities of the parliament’s president, one is about the meeting on August 12 with the Collectivité d’Outre Mer de Saint Martin, and one is about the first meeting of the supervisory board of the national security service VDSM.

On the right hand side, under the text More Headlines, the website informs visitors amongst others that the House of Parliament is closed for the summer recess. Further down, under the heading parliament news briefs is a text that refers to a Central Committee meeting and a plenary session of parliament about the amendment to the 2013 budget. These meetings took place almost a month ago, on September 12.

There is no information on the site about current meetings of the Central Committee or about plenary sessions of the parliament.
