Warm welcome for Kidz at SeaPOSTED: 10/27/15 5:19 PM
St. Maarten – Kidz at Sea received a warm welcome at the Caribbean Sailing Association’s (CSA) annual conference at the Divi Little Bay Resort last weekend. Garth Steyn, founder of the Kidz at Sea Foundation gave a presentation, explaining why and how the foundation was started, the different programs, its goals and the successes. A large representation of Kidz at Sea students were present to show support and answer questions from the conference participants. Afterwards the local youngsters and coaches took everyone outside to showcase the boats built through the Build Your Future Program. Luckily there was a dry spell which allowed them to take the boats out for a quick race as well. The conference attendees were clearly impressed with the program, the interaction with the students and most of all, the fun during the race.
The CSA Conference dedicated several presentations on youth sailing development in the Caribbean that were well attended by representatives and key players from sailing organizations, regattas and yacht clubs from the region.
Kidz at Sea Foundation is currently recruiting new students for the upcoming sailing season. Those who are interested in joining the program can contact Garth Steyn for more information at firstname.lastname@example.org
