Voice of St. Maarten turns pink

GREAT BAY- Staff of radio station the Voice of St. Maarten PJD2 and PJD3 signaled their support for breast cancer awareness by wearing pink clothing and launching a series of public service announcement from now until the end of the month to encourage people “to get tested, know your status and be positive.”

It is a welcome addition to the campaign of the Positive Foundation that employee and gospel artiste Angie Pantophlet initiated among her colleagues. Pantophlet on Wednesday said “It was amazing to feel and see the response of all my colleagues in reference to this matter.  When you’re going through such times personally, or if it is someone close to you, you do need the support of friends, family and colleagues. When you’re in it, you surely do know how it feels but those of you, who are not, support breast cancer patients and survivors, the best way you can.

Pantophlet recounted how her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1994.

“My mom Irene Pantophlet was a very private, god fearing woman who passed due to the many complications that accompanied this illness. One thing we know for sure is that if she was here, she may not have come out in spotlight but as she lived whomever she encountered not well or real sick she would take a moment to encourage or pray for them and let them know of her experiences, and her last words would always lead to her almighty god in whom she believed. A positive mind enhances your healing process. She lived to enjoy her 70th birthday on August 5, 2011 and 4 months later she left us.”
