VKS bids farewell to Commander Illidge

St. Maarten – The Voluntary Corps St. Maarten (VKS) will say goodbye in style on Saturday to its commander Lt. Colonel Jean Illidge who retired on February 28. Captain Paul Martens has been appointed as the acting commander for the VKS.
The farewell ceremony begins with speeches in front of the Government Administration Building, starting at 4 p.m. After the speeches a uniformed parade will march from Clem Labega square through Back Street and Front Street to the Roman Catholic Church. The parade stops in front of the courthouse for a salute. At 6 p.m. there is a holy mass at the St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church, followed by a reception at Sheer Restaurant on Front Street.
