St. Maarten – While in their room at Midtown Hotel, 2 hotel guests from Venezuela, who said they were on the island for business purposes, were attacked, forced to the floor and tied up by three armed men. Once their victims were properly tied up, the robbers proceeded to search the room and rob the victims of their belongings. After committing this act, the robbers fled the scene.

Shortly after, a colleague of the two victims arrived at the hotel. Upon entering the room, he found his two colleagues tied up and on the floor. Having untied his colleagues, he called the police. On Friday, November 7, at approximately 6.15 p.m., police patrols and detectives were sent to Midtown Hotel to investigate the armed robbery. On the scene the investigating officers spoke to the three victims from Venezuela. The Forensic Department was also on the scene to collect evidence.

Reportedly, the robbers, who were dressed completely in black and had their faces covered, stole an undisclosed amount of cash and some electrical equipment from the hotel room. The Special Robbery Unit is busy conducting this investigation.
