Versluis succeeds Jonkers as Dutch representative

St. Maarten – Drs. Gert Versluis will succeed Marsie Jonkers as the head of the office of the Dutch representative in St. Maarten per February 1.

Jonkers arrived in St. Maarten on February 24 of 2011 as the successor of Lars Walrave. He leaves this weekend to become the head of the office of the Dutch representative in Curacao.

Versluis was the program director for identity management and integration at the directorate-general for Immigration Affairs at the Ministry of Home Affairs in The Hague since January 1, 2011.

As assistant head director of the Immigration and Naturalization service he was responsible for the introduction of the 48-hour procedure and for the transfer of admission tasks from the aliens police to the Immigration and Naturalization Service IND. The 48-hour procedure is a commitment by the IND to process requests for asylum within 3 to 5 working days.

The office of the Dutch Representative in St. Maarten hired Bianca van der Lee as a policy associate. She started yesterday in her new job. Van der Lee comes from the government information service RVD where she worked as a communication consultant.
