Van den Heuvel detained after interrogation

POSTED: 10/1/13 2:00 PM

St. Maarten – Bada Bing owner Jaap van den Heuvel voluntarily returned from the Netherlands to St. Maarten to make a statement to the National Detective Agency about the perceived bribery-case that involves independent MP Patrick Illidge and possibly UP-leader Theo Heyliger and former Justice Minister Roland Duncan.
After he made his statement, Van den Heuvel was detained. According to his attorney Cor Merx the Bada Bing boss knew this was going to happen, but he still wanted to clarify what happened on September 30 of last year. Van den Heuvel remains in custody while detectives verify his statements.
In March a video surfaced (see video on the right of this page) that showed how Van den Heuvel seemingly paid a large amount of money to Illidge. He has always maintained that this was a repayment for a loan and not a bribe. Van den Heuvel also said in March in an interview with this newspaper that he had made the video at the request of UP-leader Theo Heyliger.

How is it that there is so little public response to the illicit immoral unethical actions of such prominent named government officials goes so quietly and their social and new positions are praised and spoken about.
Where is the outrage of feelings of what these so called for the island image/people/economy are doing is it blind ignorance or just scared about what they think vs what should be said.
