St. Maarten – UTS Eastern Caribbean’s interim Chief Operations Officer Roy Richardson has saluted staffers who recently completed a First Responder course offered by the Red Cross. He’s also congratulated the technicians for completing a series of vendor-based, technology training sessions at the Training & Development Center (TDC) in preparation of the launch of UTS’ new, island-wide 3G+ network.
“The necessary skill sets needed to operate and maintain our new Ericsson-based 3G+/4G LTE-ready network are now in-house and I am truly proud of our staff’s commitment towards realizing this important milestone,” Richardson said.
“It is not just enough to train our people with job-related skills. Our aim is to give our staff the skills that also enrich them on a personal level, skills that will serve them wherever they go in life. We live on an island that has its share of natural calamities and challenges and we need to be prepared in every way possible,” the interim COO added.
Almost every employee took part in the First Responder course. Red Cross Manager Marjan van der Steen was pleased with the number of employees that participated, especially since it means there is now a larger pool of First Aid Responders. Van der Steen is also hoping that more companies will follow suit and offer the training to their employees.
