St. Maarten – The board of the Windward Islands Teachers Union has invited representatives of Motorworld to their general membership meeting at the John Larmonie Center on November 9. The union is seeking favorable deals for teachers who are interested in buying a car.
Witu-president Claire Elshot said the reason for inviting Motorworld is because when they needed sponsorship for the vice president to attend a meeting in Australia it was this company that helped.
She said that in return for this favor, the union would like to have a representative of Motorworld at the membership meeting where teachers will be able to take advantage of the specials that will be offered to them.
The union will present its financial report, announce the elections for January 2013, and also present an overview of its activities in its annual report. Elshot appealed to teachers to become involved in committees to enhance the union’s functioning. She appealed to union members to reserve the date of the meeting and come out.
The members will also be presented with a draft proposal about their vacation allowance with a reference to the increase enjoyed by sister unions in Curacao, Aruba and the Netherlands.
