Two theft suspects arrested in Mullet Bay

St. Maarten – The central police dispatch received a call from an off-duty police officer who saw three teenage boys in the Mullet Bay area walking suspiciously towards Maho on 12 July at approximately 11.40 am. He had also received a call from someone informing him that three teenage boys had stolen some items, including a cell-phone from a tourist at Mullet Bay beach shortly before.

The boys took off running in different directions when they saw the police-officer approaching them. The police dispatch was informed and other patrols were sent to assist in apprehending the boys. Several officers engaged in a foot chase through Mullet Bay and Maho, and shortly afterwards one of the suspects with the initials N.O.M. (15) was caught after stepping into a bus in the vicinity of the airport. Another suspect with initials C. H. (18) was also quickly arrested in the Maho area. Both suspects are from St. Maarten and both were taken to the Philipsburg police station and turned over to the detective department for further investigation. The third suspect has not yet been arrested.
