Two men robbed within 25 minutes

St. Maarten – Within 25 minutes, two robberies took place on Saturday evening where two victims were robbed of their belongings.

The first robbery occurred around 9.30 p.m. in the vicinity of Island Water World on Water Front Road where two men attacked a man who was walking up the stairs to his house. The victim was robbed from his money and was attacked by a machete.  Both suspects were dressed in dark clothing and had covered their face. Both robbers fled the scene.

Investigating officers encountered the victim, who was bleeding profusely from a deep wound to his head. Paramedics came to the scene and attended the victim. He was transported to the St. Maarten Medical Center for further treatment.

The second robbery occurred around 10 p.m. on Front Street in the vicinity of Levi’s. Investigating officers found the victim who stated that while walking on Front street, he was approached by two men, one of which who unexpectedly struck him with an unknown object in his face, knocking him to the ground. While on the ground the other suspect searched his pockets taking his money and other important documents.

The victim was bleeding from a cut under his chin and was treated on the scene by paramedics and was transported to the hospital as well.

Witnesses are being questioned and both investigations are in the hands of the Special Robbery Unit.
