Two hold on to their position – St. Maarten Harbor board members decline to comment

St. Maarten – Renald Williams confirmed media reports that he has resigned from the supervisory board of the Harbor Group of Companies yesterday, but he declined to further comment on the situation, other than saying, “These things happen.”
While Humprey Mezas and chairman Joe Richardson reportedly also handled in their resignation at the request of Economic Affairs Minister Romeo Pantophlet, two others – Kelvyn Bloyden and Nike Alexander – will clarify their position in a letter to the minister today.
The move by Minister Pantophlet to demand the board members’ resignation is highly unusual, because it violates the Corporate Governance Code.
For now it seems that Bloyden and Alexander have not given up their position and that they’ll want to stick to the rules that regulate the appointment of board members. Chairman Joe Richardson could not be reached for a comment yesterday.
