MARIGOT, St. Martin – The Rotary Club of St. Martin Nord the Rotaract Club, and Help St. Martin Association have organized a two day blood drive at the Chamber of Commerce Building in Concordia. People will be able to donate blood between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. January 17 and January 28.
All donors must be between 18 and 71, be in good health and not have travelled to Haiti or Guyana in the past three months. All donors will have to answer questions before they actually donate blood, take a blood pressure test, meet with a nurse and then have their chart evaluated by a doctor who will determine if they can indeed give blood.
Donors are required to fast and people who have not eaten ahead of time will be given a sandwich before they give blood. The actual process of donating should take 10 to 15 minutes and people are advised to drink between a liter to liter and a half of water after they made their donation.
All the collected blood will be used at the hospital in Marigot for when people need it during surgery and to help people with certain illnesses.
