POSTED: 05/22/12 11:57 AM

GREAT BAY – Roland Tuitt resigned as the Chairman of the General Audit Chamber on Sunday, ahead of his appointment to the position of finance minister in the new cabinet. The national ordinance on the General Audit Chamber and the Constitution both state that membership of the Audit Chamber board and Minister of Finance are incompatible functions.
Tuitt was the chairman of the General Audit Chamber from the start of the institution in 2010. His term, along with the other members, was for two years, and would have ended in October of this year.
Operations will not be affected by the chairman’s departure, the audit chamber stated in a press release. Ronald Halman will serve as acting chairman. The other board members will continue to serve until the completion of their terms later this year.
