Tuitt presents Audit Chamber’s report to Brooks–Salmon

St. MaartenThe Vice-chair of the Advisory Council of St. Maarten, Mavis Brooks–Salmon, was presented a copy of the annual report of the General Audit Chamber on July 5 by Chairman of the Audit Chamber Roland Tuitt. He also provided a short explanation of the report’s contents.

Copies of the report were sent to Parliament and Governor drs. Eugene Holiday on June 28 and June 29 respectively. Those presentations are in compliance with the law which requires the Audit Chamber submit their report by July 1.

The General Audit Chamber is a High Council of State that was formally established on October 10, 2010. Since its inception the Audit Chamber has been finalizing various projects related to the institution’s set up and preparing activities related to the core tasks of the institution. The primary task of the General Audit Chamber is to examine whether public expenditures occurred within legal parameters and determine whether expenditures and policy are effective and efficient.

The General Audit Chamber is comprised of a three person board, including a full time chairman Roland Tuitt. The other members are Ronald Halman and Alphons Gumbs. There are also two replacement members Mark Kortenoever and Daniel Hassell.
