Tribute to Mr. Kenneth BlijdenPOSTED: 10/9/15 4:28 PM
As President of the Windward Islands Chamber of Labor Unions (Wiclu) and President of the Windward Islands Teachers Union I would like to pay tribute to a great labor activist, an advocate for social justice within the work place, a strong and dedicated leader as trade unionist, who dedicated a large number of his years in representing his people in the Telem Companies, tired less and fearless.
It is therefore with a deep sense of appreciation that I would like to pay tribute to you, Mr. Kenneth Blijden.
A strong young man who stood and fought for a number of things throughout the history of the trade union movement.
A strong young man who fought against discrimination and social injustice in the companies.
A strong young man who represented and defended his co-workers against exploitation and sought to establish work ethic.
A strong young man who fought to improve the quality of life of all the workers.
A strong young man who had no fear to let his voice be heard, to point out wrong and weaknesses throughout his struggles for the human and trade union rights of the workers.
In all that you have done, thank you for being the voice of the voiceless, the defender and protector of the workers.
Your untimely passing will surely leave a void among your family, friends and colleagues.
Rest in peace in the arms of the Almighty Father.
On behalf of the workers on the island of St. Maarten we would like to express our condolences to the bereaved family.
Your hard work, Mr. Kenneth Blijden and dedication to the cause of the workers will be lovingly remembered.
Rest in peace, our brother
