Town hall meeting on Thursday

St. Maarten – The Ministry of Vromi has organized a town hall meeting coming Thursday covering Middle Region and Dutch Quarter.

Residents, stakeholders and other interested are invited to attend this meeting which will take place at the Belvedere Community Center, on Low Estate Road Belvedere from 7 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. The meeting is part of the process of drafting development plans for St. Maarten.

 

The development plan will comprise of a legal framework for possible future development that would take place within the area; to designate or reserve land for desired use, to prevent undesired development and to offer legal security to residents about future development in their district.

 

This is the first meeting for this area which will allow the people of Middle Region and Dutch Quarter to provide their views and ideas with respect to the future development their areas. The views presented by the public will then be included into the design development plan and re-presented to the community in a follow-up town hall meeting.

The processes to develop the plans are funded by the Dutch agency Usona for the amount of 2 million guilders (estimated $1,1 million).
