St. Maarten – The Middle Region and Defiance Community Council invites all the residents of Middle Region and Defiance to a town hall meeting scheduled for April 23. The meeting will be held at the Sister Marie Laurence School in Middle Region from 7:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide the residents with first hand information about the connections to the sewage system. The meeting is also to encourage the residents to cooperate with each other, especially those that are living on the main road.
“We would like for the residents that are living above those on the main road to allow them to connect to their septic. This would prevent those residents with overflow from pumping the raw sewage onto to the main road or in the water drainage system,” a release states.

Minister of Housing, Physical Planning, Environment and Infrastructure Theodore Heyliger, Head of New Works, Ing. Kurt Ruan, the general contractor MNO and Mr. Cruz of Usona have been invited to brief residents.
“We expect this to be a very informative meeting where the residents would have the opportunity to ask the various presenters questions as there will be a question and answer period,” the release further states.
People who need additional information can contact Lenny Priest at 586-6018, Oliver William at 554-4077 and Angelica Chittick at 553-5533.
