St. Maarten – Radio personality Dick Miller, who was named Tourism Man of St. Maarten/St. Martin in 1994 by the Governments of St. Maarten/St Martin, will visit St. Maarten with his wife Deborah Friday. The couple is on a Caribbean cruise aboard Celebrity Equinox.

“This will be the first time that Deborah and I have returned to the island since The Dick Miller Show went off the air. We are so excited about our one day in St. Maarten/St. Martin, we will try to see as many of our old friends as possible. We know we could never do everything in one day, which is very frustrating to us,” Miller stated in a release.

“We think of St. Maarten / St. Martin with many fond memories of the beautiful island that we called home for 11 years. We hope to see as many of the familiar places and friends we remember and to see the new developments to the island that we have heard about and look forward to seeing for ourselves,” he added.

The proclamation honoring Miller was jointly signed by Michel Deher and Romeo Fleming and presented at a ceremony at the Grand Casino at Mullet Bay. Officials from St. Eustatius and Saba joined in the celebration. Aruba’s Hildward Croes and his band provided the musical entertainment for the ceremony. The title was given because of an evening drive time (5:00 p.m.) Miller hosted on PJD2 that could be heard in shops, car rentals, resort rooms and homes. The show was a mix of music and tips on where to go and what to see when people visited St. Maarten/St. Martin, Anguilla, St. Eustatius and Saba.

Miller’s stint on radio here is part of a 24 year career in media that includes periods in New York City, New Jersey and Aruba. The stint in New York also included work on television. Both Millers have now transitioned to being realtors in Florida.
