St. Maarten – The Police’s Traffic Department is investigating what led the driver of a Toyota Yaris to collide with Thrifty Car Rental’s concrete wall. The collision occurred shortly after 3:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.
The police report that the car was speeding along the Airport Boulevard and swinging from left to right. In order to avoid a collision the officers in a patrol car stationed in Simpson Bay pulled on to the shoulder of the road, before the driver lost control and hit the wall.
Officers sprang into the action to offer assistance after the impact. They found that three of the four people in the vehicle had been injured. The driver and passenger in the front seat suffered wounds to their faces and a passenger in the back seat complained of pain in his right hip. All of the injured were treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to the St. Maarten Medical Center for further treatment.
