Young woman stabbed to death in Middle Region by teenage girlPOSTED: 03/25/13 1:07 PM
St. Maarten – A 17-year-old girl identified as D.A.B. stabbed 20-year-old Kimberly S. Illidge to death during a fight in Middle Region on Saturday evening. The stabbing occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on Valley Drive. The reason for the fight is unclear.
B. turned herself into the police around midnight. Officers arrested shortly afterwards a second suspect, 17-year-old E.J.J.
According to her Facebook page, the victim worked as a teacher at the Kids Light House play school; she was a student at the St. Maarten Vocational Training School.
Police patrols and an ambulance arrived at the scene at twenty minutes past nine. Officers got confirmation that the victim had been stabbed in the chest and that the stabber had fled the scene.
Kimberly Illidge had left the scene as well, but she collapsed near a home where an elderly resident was holding her. Ambulance staff noted that the victim’s vital signs were weakening. They gave medical assistance but soon noticed that the victim was not responding anymore and had no more pulse. Police doctor Douglass pronounced the young woman dead at the scene.
The forensic department cordoned off the crime scene to gather evidence.
Both suspects remain in police custody pending further investigation.
In its press release, the police thanked Middle Region residents for their assistance and extended condolences to the victim’s family and friends.
