St. Maarten – “Making SZV the number one excellent service provider” was the theme of the Social and Health Insurances’ (SZV) first retreat for management and staff on January 6 2012. The one day event was opened by Chief Operations Officer Reginald Willemsberg and a speech from Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labor Cornelius de Weever.

Willemsberg outlined the joint objective for the day, while de Weever outlined the government’s expectations of the SZV for the coming years offered tips on improving the quality of customer care and encouraged employees to always deliver the best service to their clients.

SZV Director Dennis Richardson presented the “strategic roadmap” which provided a clear view of the SZV’s current vision, mission, core values and its focus and ambitions for the next four years. Employees were then divided into workgroups to discuss recurring issues within the various departments and come up with achievable solutions that match one or more of the strategic goals. This activity is part of efforst to “optimize the provision of service to their clients.” The retreat ended with presentations by the workgroups, and a final recap of the day by Chief Financial Officer Andre Lievaart, Willemsberg and Richardson.

All agreed the retreat was a great success and that it should be an annual event in order to keep employees abreast of the actual status of SZV, offer constant enlightenment on developments and further improve the functioning of the organization.
