Surgeon Dr. Menno Misset joins staff Medical Center

GREAT BAY – The St. Maarten Medical Center added Dr. Menno Misset to its medical staff as a specialist in general surgery on Tuesday.

“We are happy to welcome Dr. Misset who will bring twelve years of extensive experience to our hospital. He is an oncology and trauma surgeon who has a good combination of experience and knowledge that will be of benefit to our community,” hospital director Kees Klarenbeek said.

“I look forward to taking care of the health needs of the people and building a relationship with the general practitioners to improve the care for the people living here.” Dr Misset said in a press statement. “I quit my job to come to the island to have a good change in my career, something new but for the long-term and I hope to find the SMMC an enjoyable environment to work in; I think I will.”

Dr. Misset completed his medical training at the University of Antwerpen in Belgium, where he specialised in oncology and trauma. He also specialises in minimal invasive surgery; laparoscopy procedures for the gallbladder, hernia, appendix and colon.

Prior to his employment at the St. Maarten Medical Center, Dr. Misset worked at the Bernhoven hospital in the Netherlands.

Patients can visit Dr. Misset in the Outpatient Department by appointments, made in person or by phone 543-1111 ext 1300, 1310. SZV patients are required to have a referral letter for clinic visits.
