St. Maarten -Thirty three applicants for the studying in the region project have been received by the Ministry of Education but only 18 applicants’ will be awarded scholarships. Dutch development funds of 329 thousand guilders have made the initiative possible for students who were denied study financing because they did not meet all of the requirements such as nationality and even psychological readiness for Europe. The application process has been closed, Minister of Education Silveria Jacobs said.
With this project, students will be allowed to study in countries such as Guyana, St. Maarten, Curacao, Barbados, St. Lucia and as far as Canada.
“ In the process they can then finalize their papers so that they can apply for the regular study financing in the next year,” the minister said.
