‘Stryker’ strikes and wins first bottom fishing tournament

St. Maarten – Fishing vessel Stryker was named champion boat from a fleet of 10 teams at the conclusion of St.Maarten Sport Fishing Foundation’s bottom fishing tournament which took place on Sunday at Bobby’s Marina.

Young Kevin Schuurman and Andre Knol aboard Stryker displayed the potentials of seasoned fishermen when they caught an assortment of snappers, hines, butterfish and old wives, totaling 40.9 pounds.

Along with bragging rights, team ‘Stryker’ received an all expense invitation to compete in 5th annual Budget Marine Wahoo Fishing tournament which will take place on November 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

The second largest catch went to the fishing team on ‘My Baby Too’ with a total of 35.5 lbs. The third largest catch of the tournament was brought to the scale from the fishing vessel ‘ALI-TU’ totaling 14.9 lbs of snappers.

All participating boats contributed with portions of their catches where this was cleaned and fried for everyone. The organizers took the opportunity to thank Budget Marine, Caribbean Liqueurs & Tabaco, Bobby’s Marina and Mr. Robby Cijntje for their generous support to the Fundraiser.
