Staff meeting and review extension cause hearing postponement

POSTED: 11/22/11 9:13 AM

St. Maarten – Today’s Central Committee hearing on the National Ordinance on Consumer Protection, has been postponed until further notice. The St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce & Industry was supposed to give input with respect to the National Ordinance supplementing Title 1 of Book 7 of the Civil Code regarding provisions to Protect Consumers, particularly on Telesales Contracts and Warranties (National Ordinance Consumer Purchases) but a meeting of the parliamentary secretariat conflicts with the time and the Chamber of Commerce & Industry requested additional time to carry out research and prepare for the hearing.
A 2:00 p.m. meeting with the General Audit Chamber will go ahead as scheduled. That meeting will look at current affairs and the audit chamber’s proposal for creating a committee on government expenditures. This meeting is open to the public and will be carried live on St. Maarten Cable TV Channel 20.
