St. Maarten- A 32-year-old man, identified as M.G.F. who was involved in a big fight near A&A Building Supplies on the A.T. Illidge Road on Sunday has died in the Dominican Republic from a stab wound to his neck.
“The victim was flown to Santo Domingo for surgery, but unfortunately he has died this morning,” Press Prosecutor Karola van Nie said yesterday. “According to my information the family is informed. A suspect was arrested already and the case is under investigation by the police department.”
According to the police report, two men went at each other with knives and both sustained injuries in the process. F. underwent surgery for his stab wounds at the St. Maarten Medical Center and was later transferred to the Dominican Republic.
The hospital treated the other man for a stab wound to his shoulder; he remains in police custody. Two women beat up the victim’s wife, who is pregnant. They are also in custody.
