St. Maarten – The takeover of the embattled Simpson Bay Resort by the Seminole Tribe of Florida may be closer than thought, Jeff Berger reports in his electronic newsletter St. Maarten Weekly News.
“According to several sources, negotiations between Hard Rock International and Simpson Bay continued in recent days in the wake of the court decision favoring the Simpson Bay Resort,” Berger wrote.

Agreements between the Seminoles (owners of the Hard Rock brand – ed.) the resort and the nearby Hollywood Casino still have to be finalized. “The expectation is that the Hollywood Casino building will be razed to be replaced by a Hard Rock International Casino, plus offices and condominiums. The project has been estimated at $85 million,” Berger wrote.
Renovations at the resort are already underway. “Berger: “In the short term we would expect no additional construction beyond those renovations and the new construction at the Hollywood Casino site when the Seminoles take over.”
