St. Maarten Tourism Authority on the movePOSTED: 07/4/16 8:12 PM
St. Maarten News – The St. Maarten Tourism Authority (STA) is now firmly on the move. With the presentation of two donations of US$5,000 each by the St. Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association and the St. Maarten Timeshare Association, the STA has now been funded with an initial amount of US$20,000 for it to begin operations. Previously the Harbour Group of Companies and the Princess Juliana Airport had made their matching donations of US$5,000 each.
The four entities with representation on the STA Supervisory Council, responded to a request from Minister Ingrid Arrindell to provide seed money to get the ball rolling on the STA and to cover some initial startup expenses. Minister Arrindell will be using already budgeted public marketing and product development money to provide the bulk for the marketing and product development of the island for sustainable tourism plans for the balance of 2016.
Chairman of the STA, Keith Graham, stated. “With the firm support of both government and private sector, I am truly optimistic that we will now have a path forward that will produce better results and get our economy growing again.”
