GREAT BAY – The St. Maarten Timeshare Association (SMTA) has added a new dimension to its Dollar-a-Day program by partnering with businesses. Blue Point is the first business partner that has pledged $0.25 from every receipt to the program.

In December, the SMTA hosted a Christmas party on the parking lot opposite Blue Point on the Pondfill for children living in foster homes. 250 Children were signed up to receive Christmas gifts.

The children enjoyed a bouncing castle and they were treated to popcorn, snow cones, cotton candy and a variety of snacks. CC1 sponsored the tents and the ebony steel orchestra played holiday music until Father Christmas arrived around 5.30 p.m. to distribute the gifts.

The SMTA’s Dollar-a-Day program has over the years generated funds for donations of educational materials to schools foundations and associations catering to children. The SMTA has helped out with school fees and sponsored numerous necessities for students ranging from daycare, primary and secondary schools to universities. The association has also donated items to the library, to an agricultural project and to environmental programs.
