St. Maarten Social Services and Labor reopens today

St. Maarten – The offices of Social Services and Labor located on the Pondfill next to Carl & Sons, will reopen today. The departments fall under the Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labour.

The offices won’t be 100 per cent fully operational because things like the Information Technology installation still need to be completed. Basic services will continue to be accessible while the upgrades are finalised as part of a package of measures to improve services to clients.

Acting Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labour Jorien Wuite is “very pleased” with the “enormous teamwork” that has been displayed by ICT staff, Telem and Ministry of Housing, Physical Planning, Environment and Infrastructure (VROMI). Their collaboration included working on weekends.

“The staff have worked very hard along with many other stakeholders to reach this far.  An enormous amount of work has been carried out and I have great appreciation for all who have contributed. A formal opening will take place next week involving the Minister.  The main thrust behind this initiative is the enhancement of client services,” Wuite said on Sunday.
