St. Maarten – The Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise presented a $350 donation to the  Diabetes Foundation at its presentation of the diabetes foot investigation results in the A.C.Wathey Legislative Hall.

This contribution is part of  the joint organization of the training in foot care for diabetes patients to further support efforts to decrease the burden of chronic diseases, including diabetes training that  will be given to nurses and owners of beauty salons to be aware of sensibility disorders of diabetics and to refer to experts in diabetic foot care.
The Rotary’s sponsoring is to cover travel cost for the podiatrist who will present the results of the foundation’s foot study to health care workers. A copy of the study was also presented to the Sunrise Rotary Club.

The training dates will take place on this upcoming Sunday and Monday.

World Diabetes Day (WDD) was celebrated last week Wednesday. The World Diabetes Day campaign is led by the International Diabetes Federation;  it raises global awareness about diabetes.
