St. Maarten – Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams oversaw the transfer of government archives to the new archive vault inside of the new government building. The prime minister, as Minister of General Affairs, is responsible for the archives section. Through her initiative the archives are now housed in the vault of the new government building.

Last June the concerns grew from within the archive section that the available space was running low at the Receivers Office. It was then decided by the ministries to initiate the completion of the archive vault within the yet to be finalized government building. “This is one of the first instances where use is made of the new government building. This shows that we are definitely heading towards the right direction. With the use of the new archive vault there will be enough space to house various documents of government and the first step is taken to use our new building,” commented the prime minister.

In addition to using the new archive vault the prime minister was also presented with the Analog Digital Archive project. With the new ADA, initiative archives will also be digitized and will be made available to various instances within government that require their use. The project will also limit the use of paper and will make available additional space.
