GREAT BAY- St. Maarten will play host to more than 200 delegates who will be attending a regional conference organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The conference will focus on Machine readable travel documents, biometric and security standards for North America, Central America and the Caribbean. The event has been set for June and Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams has indicated that a small local committee has been formed to work out the logistics of the conference.

It sets standards and regulations necessary for aviation safety, security, efficiency and regularity, as well as for aviation environmental protection. The organization serves as the forum for cooperation in all fields of civil aviation among its 191 member states.
