St. Maarten – Dutch Minister of Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations Liesbeth Spies has heard firsthand about the experience that officers from the Netherlands and officers here have in working with each other. The Dutch officers are here to supplement the force for three years while it continues to recruit from among the local population.

Spies and her delegation, who were welcomed by Chief Commissioner of Police Peter de Witte, were also briefed on the Community Policing project by Acting Chief of Police Commissioner Carl John. The minister and her delegation also viewed live demonstrations by the Arrest Team, the police K-9 Unit and police bike patrol.

According to a release Spies was “quite impressed with the presentation and demonstration that were given and also the developments within the organization.”
