St. Maarten Police see fewer crimes this year end

St. Maarten – Police Spokesman Ricardo Henson has said that things are going “just as planned” with the end of year strategy the police have implemented to provide security in high traffic areas visited by tourists and shoppers and in the neighborhoods. He also announced on Tuesday that the increased visibility seems to have led to a reduction in criminal activity.
“If I take just a quick scan I can most definitely see a reduction in the number of crimes when we compare with last year. I must also tell you that there’ve been some errors made, but we’ve been able to correct those,” Henson said.
Henson confirmed that road closures in Philipsburg will continue until year’s end and that people can also expect the heightened presence in Philipsburg – the main shopping area – and Maho will continue through to the end of the year.
