St. Maarten Police search prison

POSTED: 12/16/13 4:30 PM

St. Maarten – A large police force consisting of around 25 officers did an extensive search at the Pointe Blanche prison on Saturday. The officers were looking for forbidden items such as cell phones, drugs and weapons. Repeated calls to prison director Edward Rohan for more information yielded no results. Rohan’s phone gave the message that he “cannot receive calls at this time.”

It is therefore unknown whether the officers conducted a routine control or that they acted on specific information, possibly linked to the suspects in the Vesuvius-trail that are awaiting their sentences from the Appeals Court this week on Friday. The prosecution has demanded that the court confirms the life sentences against gang leader Omar Jones and his hit man Carlos Richardson – but both men maintained ion court that they are innocent.
