St. Maarten– Staffers at The Kadaster completed a course in Land Management, Cadastres and Public Registers recently. Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Perry Geerlings presented all the participants with their certificates.

The capacity building is meant to improve the service to the public and to underscore the importance of continuous training and education for the employees.

The course comprised of similarities and differences between the concepts of land management, Cadastre and Public Registers. The focus was on the main characteristics of these concepts, their set up, purpose and inter-relations as well as their position in society and how to service the public with the information of the records.

This training is the first one that also fits in the implementation of the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding with the Kadaster Curaçao which is aimed to lead to a structural cooperation between the cadastres of the Dutch Caribbean Islands.

Also as implementation of the capacity building, two Kadaster surveyors are currently in theUSAfor a GIS training. This for the scheduled introduction of GIS services in the near future.
