President of Latin America and the Caribbean TLD Association (LACTLD) Eduardo Santoyo and SX Registry’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Normand Fortier sign documents related to St. Maarten becoming an LACTLD member.

St. Maarten – SX Registry which manages the .SX domain representing the country code of St. Maarten officially joined Latin America and the Caribbean TLD Association during the 44th Icann Meeting in Prague on June 25. SX Registry SA provides registry services for St. Maarten’s .SX Internet extension or TLD and LACTLD is a non-profit association now regrouping the ccTLDs of 27 different countries in its region.
“It was most important for St. Maarten to join this association, as St. Maarten will now have an equal voice regarding top level domain issues along with Aruba, Curaçao and Anguilla who are already members. Most importantly, being part of the LACTLD will help us promote St. Maarten’s identity across the internet,” SX Registry’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Normand Fortier said.
“St. Maarten is now an official member of the Latin America and the Caribbean TLD association. We also hope to hold one of our association working meetings in St. Maarten within the next few months,” President of the association Eduardo Santoyo said after he formally accepted the membership application.

LACTLD’s objectives are coordinate policies and promote strategies for the development of domain names in the region, represent members’ interests in different associations and international/regional forums, promote the development of ccTLDs in the region, foster cooperation and exchange among its members to guarantee stability in the operations of ccTLDs and establish cooperation ties with analogous associations in the different regions.
