St. Maarten hosting aviation safety conference

St. MaartenThe Department of Civil Aviation St. Maarten is hosting a nine day workshop on Aviation Security that is aimed at providing aviation security personnel with knowledge and practical skills to enable them to plan coordinate and conduct quality control measures. The workshop is certified by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Arthur Tholel and Pedro Rotella are the instructors for the course. They’ve been asked to ensure participants are better able to assist in protecting the airport against acts of unlawful interference, contributing to the safety and security of the general public and aviation workers and developing a future career in the field of aviation security.

Five staffers from different departments of the Princess Juliana International Airport and one person from the Department of Civil Aviation and Shipping and Maritime St. Maarten are participating in the course along with four people from the Bahamas and one each from Grenada, Saba and St. Eustatius.
