St. Maarten Government updates committee on Plans of Approach

POSTED: 08/7/11 8:29 PM

St. Maarten – Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams has received and passed on the latest quarterly reports on the Plans of Approach. Each of the ministries that needed to report has done so and the reports were handed to the Reporting Commission (Voortgangs Commissie) during a meeting last week.

Speaking at Wednesday’s Council of Ministers press briefing the Prime Minister said the Civil Registry, the Department of Legal Affairs and Legislation, the Ministry of Public Housing, Physical Planning, Environment and Infrastructure (Vromi) and the various departments in the Ministry of Justice had all submitted. It is now up to the Reporting Commission to review the reports and prepare a report that will lead to a consultation between the prime minister and the Dutch Minister of Internal Affairs and Kingdom Relations Piet Hein Donner.

There is no date or location yet for the meeting. At the end of the last meeting Donner here in St. Maarten said he believed the next one could potentially be held by video conference, instead of face to face.
