St. Maarten Government outsources cleaning of public toilets

St. Maarten – The government has published a public tender for the management of the six public restrooms in Philipsburg in an announcement that appears of the government information page today. An information meeting was already held last week Monday. Tender bids must be submitted to the Vromi-ministry at the Department of Infrastructure Management in the Savance Building next Monday at 10 a.m. The bid covers management services for the period 2015-2018.

The work includes cleaning the restrooms and their surroundings, maintaining stock of supplies like toilet paper, paper towels and hand soap and reporting incidents about leakages and blockages to the department.

Sjaoul Richardson of contract management at Vromi’s Department of Infrastructure Management lets this newspaper know that the six public toilets are in one location behind the courthouse in Philipsburg – three for men, and three for women. “The ministry has no personnel for cleaning outside facilities and besides cleaning the restrooms someone needs to be present during their opening hours.”

The public tender is designed “to give everyone a fair chance to be contracted.”
