St. Maarten Government building scheduled for completion by October

POSTED: 07/4/11 11:56 AM

St. Maarten – Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams said in Parliament this week that the new government building will open before October. The building on Pond Island has been a thorn in the government’s side for years, and it is also a financial burden, because the developer cashes $481,000 in rent every three months since 2007, but no civil servant has ever worked there.

Wescot-Williams mentioned the completion of the building as one of the priorities from the government program.

Other priorities are training for the public service center (between March and October of this year), performance contracts with senior management and the installation of computer systems for departments that deal with permits and applications.
