POSTED: 10/19/11 6:29 PM

St. Maarten – The draft budget for 2012, which was approved by the Council of Ministers on Monday, is balanced and tops out at 432, 549, 600 guilders. This is 11, 633, 003 guilders higher than the 2011 budget.
Approval in cabinet means Finance Minister Hiro Shigemoto can now send the budget to the Board of financial supervision (Cft). He will also submit the draft to the Council of Advice at the same time so they can begin their review. When the Cft’s advice comes back in roughly two weeks the minister will forward that as well, so it can be taken up in the discussion.
Once the Council of Advice has sent the government its advice, they will submit the package to Governor drs Eugene Holiday, who will forward it to Parliament.
