St. Maarten feels effect of 4.9 Magnitude earthquake near St. Barths

St. Maarten – At 18 minutes past one yesterday afternoon St. Maarten felt the effect of an earthquake that occurred southwest of St. Barths. The quake had a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale, according to the seismic unit of the University of the West-Indies.
The earthquake’s epicenter was located at 17.83 degrees North and 62.95 degrees West at a depth of 108 kilometer.
The shock was felt in St. Maarten, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda. In Philipsburg, the shock was felt for several seconds and seems at first the effect of a passing truck. There were no reports of damages.
