St. Maarten – Three sessions of teaching on parliamentary procedures has now equipped drag racers with the tools to properly organize and execute formal meetings. So says the St. Maarten Drag Racing Association who recently concluded a parliamentary procedures course with eleven of its members.
Association President Charles Benders said that the workshops had the specific aim of updating drivers on by-laws of the association and for them to “understand what the organization is striving for.”
Participants of the activity included Joseph Woods, Stella Richardson, Shakrita Richardson, Jean Claude Bryson, Leroy Liburd Robert Gumbs, Charles Benders, Minerva Rumnit, Carlos Richardson, Raymond Connor and Ann-Marie Kennedy.
Some of the topics covered during the workshop included guidelines for hosting membership and board meetings, confident communication, leadership and the parliamentary procedure in action. Trainers Sinatra Rouse and John Hodge awarded certificates to the participants at the completion of the training seminar.
The workshop is just one of the many ventures that has been organized by the association. Later this year, classic, sports and luxury cars and bikes will be featured at a car and bike exposition called, “Show me what you got.”
Established since 2006, the St. Maarten Drag Racing Association now has a membership of twenty persons. Benders said that persons 18 years and older who are in the possession of a driver’s license are free to join by visiting the St.Maarten Sport Federation office and filling out a membership form.
