St. Maarten Civil Registry: “There’s no need to panic”

POSTED: 05/24/11 1:13 PM

St. Maarten – The Civil Registry says people born in Aruba and Curacao who have not visited to hand in their birth certificates should not be alarmed as the June 1 deadline for doing so approaches. The request is part of an ongoing updating of the basic administration. Part of that is completing the profiles of people listed on the government’s official website www.sintmaartengov.org under the tab “What’s New.”

The names of the people who have not yet complied are listed under the “What’s New” tab on the government’s website. Management of the Civil Registry has also decided to contact the civil registries of Aruba and Curacao to retrieve the information as an alternative. Information related to individuals from Bonaire and Saba has already been received.

Parents and/or guardians are also asked to check the listing on the website of minors and to present the original birth certificate with the required legalization to the Civil Registry. All persons are kindly asked to provide the information by June 1, 2011.
