Consular office and information sharing also discussed

St. Maarten – Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams and Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skeritt have discussed trade possibilities, the set up of a consular office and exchanging information. The discussions were held last Thursday during a stopover by Skerrit.

The Government of Dominica is planning to set up a formal structure for the export of vegetables, provisions and fruit and is eyeing St. Maarten as a location. Dominican farmers already ply their trade informally during weekly visits.

“The timing of Dominica’s plans for an export structure is quite timely, given that St. Maarten has recently established guidelines and conditions for the local sale of vegetables, provisions and fruit,” Wescot-Williams said.

Skerrit also presented Wescot-Williams with a painting by an artist from Dominica, in a frame of Dominica wood as a token of appreciation and friendship between the two countries.
